Today is Yom Kippur. The day of sacrifice. Day of Atonement. I have noticed that I often feel the urge to put the word ‘happy’ in front of any holiday listed on the calendar. It just makes this day seem trivial if I say “Happy Yom Kippur.” Like it is sacrilegious. However, as I reflect on this day I am reminded that Jesus is our sacrifice. He paid the price for my sin so that I am At-one with him. My sin and death were buried in his death and I am alive in His resurrection. This is the good news. We have a way to life and that is through the only one who could pay the price of sin. Happy is my Day of Atonement. My day of At-One-Ment. When the creator, who loved us, provided his Son so that we can be One with Him and have eternal life.
Happy Yom Kippur
Blessings to you on this joyous day of atonement.
